* ARCHIVE CONTENTS

  StarWars3D.zip
    - StarWars3D.scr (the Screen Saver file)
    - StarWars3D.mid  (the music file)
    - readme.txt      (this file!)

* INSTALLATION

  To install, simply copy the "StarWars3D.scr" and "StarWars3D.mid" files
  to the windows folder (normaly C:\WINDOWS). Then go the Display options
  in Control Panel and in the Screen Saver section select StarWars3D!

  To remove simply delete the "StarWars3D.scr" file from the windows
  folder, but why you want to do this is beyond my comprehension.

* I UPGRADED TO XP AND IT RUNS SLOW! WHY?:

  You're asking me?? Shouldn't you be asking Microsoft??
  Well ok I have an idea. Turns out XP doesn't come with proper video
  drivers for most (all?) video cards. This is easily fixed tho.
  If you go to the website of whoever made your video card (mine was
  www.nvidia.com cos I've got a TNT2, yours could be different), and
  they'll have real XP drivers for your video card. Install them and
  watch the speed increase!

  If its still slow then I can't help you.

* SETTINGS:

  To get to the settings screen go to Display options in Control Panel and
  in the Screen Saver section click on Settings.

  Here you can select the amount of ships you want in the area and if you
  want music playing or not. The more ships you select, the slower it
  will run.

* RELEASE NOTES (v1.1):

  Happy to say that this little screen saver has been hugely popular.
  Glad you all like!

  This is just a minor update changing a few little things. I fixed one
  small bug with the settings screen and power saving. I had a few emails
  asking for the ship movements to be less linear (they rotated at a
  constant speed). So I changed that. I might change it again but I think
  it does look better. And I thought of a different way to do the
  Hyperspace effect, so I rewrote that. I think it looks cool.

  And its all still only a 230k download!!

  Enjoy!

* RELEASE NOTES (v1.0):

  Well I've wanted to do this one for as long as I can remember. But I was
  never sure I'd get it to work the way I wanted.

  Anyway afew weeks back I decided I'd give it a go and it's turned out
  better than I expected!

  It's by no means finished but I'm starting to think it never will be. I
  keep thinking of new things to add. So I figured I'd stop and release it
  as it is now and see if there's any interest. If there is I'll keep on
  going. Actually I'll probably keep going anyway cos I like it but we'll
  see what happens.

  Just a brief description of what happens: The Rebel ships randomly
  target Imperial ships then chase 'em round trying to kill them. The Imps
  do the same to the Rebels. Simple! For the first time tho I've done some
  basic collision detection, AI and all sorts of behind the scenes stuff
  that you don't care about, but that I think is pretty damn coool!

  Afew things I plan on adding in the future are: Playability (I
  originally started writing it as a game), more ships (including some
  Episode 1 and possibly 2 ones), an opening crawl (I've done it afew too
  many times now tho), better collision detection (sometime ships go thru
  each other), better AI (ships shoot blindly so they sometime hit their
  comrades), better spawning (sometimes ships appear from nowhere),
  different scenarios, etc, etc, etc.

  If you use/like/hate/choke on/spot bugs in/thoroughly enjoy this screen
  saver drop me an email!

  But before you email with a complaint (Whats that I hear you say??
  Complain about free software?! Yup its true I get heaps of complaints!)
  about the Falcon not looking right or Imperial pilots not flying in
  proper formation or something please remember: I am just one dude. Doing
  this stuff in my own time. Getting no money or anything in return.
  Paying huge website hosting fees so that you can download it.

  Basically I am not I.L.M. So don't expect perfection... yet.

  And btw, for a 227kb download you've gotta admit its kinda impressive!

  Enjoy!
